Limited Capacity full

In this workshop, the facilitator draws upon the science behind learning and metacognitive practices that improve learning. Teaching thinking is different from teaching content, which educators would know by heart. Teaching thinking is challenging, because it requires one to shape the habits of mind over a long period of time. Before we dive into the strategies, we will unpack the differences between surface learning and deep learning, between cognitively passive and cognitively active study behaviors. Some activities are embedded into the session to help us discuss the strategies to cultivate thinking habit and to build knowledge about the self-as-independent-learner who is aware of his/her strengths and is capable of finding ways to remedy the weaknesses.
